Microsoft's Build developer conference, held every year, started with big news on new AI this year. This year's build conference led to new significant developments in AI+PC integrations.
Here are the new features in a video:
Copilot+ PCs: The Next Wave of AI Computing
Certainly, the Copilot+ PC was the main attraction, being a fresh breed of Windows laptops that are made to bring in an age where AI integration happens effortlessly. This is the year where Microsoft released here new top-of-the-line AI device component - Neural processing(NPUs), allowing ai to carry PC tasks with high speeds and effectiveness
AI Models Galore: From Coding to Creativity
Their developments don't just stop at hardware. They have introduced many fresh AI abilities meant for developers and creators.
For example, the Phi-3 group of language models - Phi-3-Vision that's used in understanding images and Phi-3 Small/Medium for processing on devices. These have potential to change how we communicate with computers.
DirectML, PyTorch and WebNN are now optimized for Copilot+ PCs' NPUs, which means developers can use them to build AI-powered apps. Microsoft has also introduced GitHub Copilot Extensions. These let you make custom Copilot extensions for different tools and ways of working.
Microsoft's presentation for creative professionals highlighted AI-fueled characteristics such as Cocreate in Paint to produce images instantly, Restyle in Photos for changing image styles and smooth merging with Adobe's creative suite that has been made better suited for Copilot+ PCs.
Copilot+ PCs and a wide range of AI abilities show that Microsoft is making its mark in the AI-powered computing field. As CEO Satya Nadella said, "Windows is the top platform for individuals to create their own AI applications."
The future is here, AI power is available to developers and creators not only in the cloud but also on local devices. It appears that computing's coming days are going to be powered by artificial intelligence with Microsoft at the forefront of this movement.
This peace of revolutionary tech is really promising for not just AI but also for technology. I am very excited to witness the next big thing.
